The challenge. An unsafe, small, and slippery front deck at an awkward height on a steep Titirangi bush section. Sitting in dense shade, the old entry posed a serious slip hazard, restricted access to the front of the home, and lacked functional outdoor space.

Our solution. The team at Pristine Exteriors Ltd completed a total tear-out of the old entry to design and build a custom timber deck and integrated landing pad. Engineered specifically for native Waitākere bush environments, we installed a heavy-duty subframe using H3.2 and H4 treated timber to withstand damp shade and soil moisture. We laid premium 90mm Kwila decking fixed securely, reconfiguring the layout and step heights to create seamless access and maximize the visual footprint.

The challenge. A steep, raw clay bank running right along the boundary of a newly built home that restricted site access, caused mud runoff, and threatened boundary stability.

Our solution. Executed precise mechanical excavation to safely cut back and reshape the bank, widening access around the home. Built a solid timber retaining wall with a dedicated drainage layer behind it to manage hydrostatic water pressure. To save the client thousands in unnecessary replacement costs, we carefully integrated and reinstalled the existing boundary fence directly on top of the new wall.

The result. A highly cost-effective, neat, and permanent engineering solution that stabilizes the bank, protects the boundary, and maximizes functional walking space around the home.

The challenge. A dangerous, failing legacy boundary fence containing hazardous materials (asbestos) that was collapsing due to unchecked soil erosion and heavy bush water runoff.

Our solution. Safely dismantled and disposed of the hazardous old fence lines. Engineered a low 300mm timber retaining wall along the baseline to manage soil erosion and ground-water pathing, then erected a secure, 2-metre timber privacy fence directly over it.

The result. A fully stabilized boundary line that controls water runoff, protects the soil, and delivers exceptional long-term structural security and backyard privacy.
