Decking project completed by Pristine Exteriors in West Auckland

Deck builders, West Auckland

New decks, deck extensions, pool surrounds and full replacements, built in kwila, treated pine or composite.

What is covered

Choosing between kwila, pine and composite

Kwila is the premium hardwood option. It looks the part, resists insects and weather, and lasts a long time. It costs more up front, needs oiling to hold its colour, and bleeds tannins while it weathers in. Treated pine is the affordable, versatile choice used on most Auckland homes, easy to stain or paint, but softer and reliant on regular maintenance. Composite sits in between: higher up front, close to nothing to maintain after that.

Built for the way the ground actually sits

Every deck is set on concrete footings with code compliant structural framing, H3.2 or H4 treated timber and trade grade corrosion resistant fixings. On sloping West Auckland sections that framing does most of the work, so it gets planned before anything visible goes down.

From $305 per m2. Indicative and excluding GST. The fixed price comes after an on site measure. See full pricing.

The challenge. An unsafe, small, and slippery front deck at an awkward height on a steep Titirangi bush section. Sitting in dense shade, the old entry posed a serious slip hazard, restricted access to the front of the home, and lacked functional outdoor space.

Our solution. The team at Pristine Exteriors Ltd completed a total tear-out of the old entry to design and build a custom timber deck and integrated landing pad. Engineered specifically for native Waitākere bush environments, we installed a heavy-duty subframe using H3.2 and H4 treated timber to withstand damp shade and soil moisture. We laid premium 90mm Kwila decking fixed securely, reconfiguring the layout and step heights to create seamless access and maximize the visual footprint.

The result. A rock-solid, safe, and vibrant new front entrance that instantly boosted the home’s street appeal. This custom deck transformation brought warmth, rich timber color, and everyday functionality to this native West Auckland property.

The challenge. An old, badly weathered, and rotted timber deck with decaying perimeter edging that ruined the home’s outdoor flow and street appeal.

Our solution. Completely dismantled the decayed decking boards and excavated the site lines. Remediated and replaced the damaged perimeter framing to restore absolute structural integrity before laying fresh, premium 90mm pine decking boards fixed with trade-grade stainless steel screws.

The result. A pristine, safe, and long-lasting outdoor living expansion that seamlessly blends with the property’s modern aesthetic.
