Ready lawn project completed by Pristine Exteriors in West Auckland

Ready lawn, West Auckland

Premium instant ready lawns laid over a properly prepared soil base, for a usable lawn in a couple of days.

What is covered

Turf laid straight onto clay will not survive

Clay suffocates roots and holds water. Existing weed networks get sprayed out, poor soil is excavated to a clean sub grade, then 50mm to 100mm of free draining sandy loam is imported and screeded. The base gets mechanically compacted and hand screeded so there are no dips holding water.

Turf chosen for the section, not the truck

Premium tall fescue holds a deep green through winter and copes with shade, which suits most residential lawns. NZ couch and fine turf blends are heat tolerant and take heavy traffic from kids and dogs in full sun.

From $120 per m2. Indicative and excluding GST. The fixed price comes after an on site measure. See full pricing.

The challenge. A rough, unlevel, and muddy front yard that suffered from poor surface drainage, zero street appeal, and patchy grass growth.

Our solution. Bulk excavated the poor-quality topsoil, installed a structural timber retaining wall to cleanly square off and stabilize the boundary, imported premium sandy loam lawn mix, and laser-leveled the site before rolling out premium Tall Fescue instant turf.

The result. A perfectly level, lush, and high-drainage front lawn that completely transforms the property’s entrance and street appeal.

The challenge. A wild, highly uneven coastal backyard with poor natural levels that caused severe water pooling and made the section entirely unusable.

Our solution. Excavated and re-graded the coastal terrain, strategically raising the rear section of the yard to establish an ideal fall for proper water runoff. Topped the leveled earth with premium topsoil and rolled out a durable Tall Fescue instant lawn tailored to survive local coastal conditions.

The result. Reclaimed a massive amount of usable backyard space, completely resolved the drainage issues, and delivered a lush, professional lawn finish.

Common questions

How long does it take?

Most residential installs are done in 1 to 2 days, including excavation, soil, levelling and laying.

When can we walk on it?

Keep heavy traffic and pets off for the first 2 to 3 weeks while the roots knit in. Light steps to move a sprinkler after a few days are fine.

How do I look after it?

Water daily for the first two weeks, twice daily in warm weather, until the roots lock in. After that it goes back to normal deep watering and mowing.
